KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 (Bernama) – Malaysia’s para badminton superstar Cheah Liek Hou showed once again why he’s the world number one, pulling off a sensational double victory at the 2025 Asia Para Badminton Championships in Korat, Thailand today.
Liek Hou, competing in the SU5 (upper limb impairment) category, was in fiery form as he clinched the men’s singles title, outlasting his arch-rival from Indonesia, Dheva Anrimusthi, in a thrilling three-set showdown, 21-19, 15-21, 21-18, with the match lasting 58 minutes.
The two-time Paralympic gold medallist wasn’t done yet. He then teamed up with Muhammad Fareez Anuar in the men’s doubles SU5, delivering a commanding performance to defeat India’s Hardik Makkar and Ruthick Ragupathi in straight sets 21-14, 21-8.
Also flying the Malaysian flag high was Mhd Amin Burhanuddin, who dominated the men’s singles SL4 (lower limb impairment) category by taking down India’s Surya Kant Yadav with a solid 23-21, 21-15 win.
However, Muhammad Ikhwan Ramli, battling in the men’s wheelchair singles WH1, had to settle for runner-up after falling to China’s Qu Zi Mo, 9-21, 16-21.
