JERLUN, May 28 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim donated a cow to Kelab Media Elit Kedah (KMEK) in conjunction with this year's Hari Raya Aidiladha.

The cow donation was presented by senior political secretary to Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) president Romli Ishak, to KMEK committee member, Wan Nabil Nasir as a token of appreciation for the role of media practitioners in the state.

Romli said that 25 cows were donated for sacrifice, with one of them given to KMEK and the other 24 distributed to local residents.

"Five of them were sacrificed here today, while another 20 will be sacrificed in Kuala Kedah tomorrow," he said at the MADANI Sacrificial Ritual Programme here, today.

Meanwhile, Wan Nabil expressed his appreciation to the Prime Minister for the donation which showed his concern for media practitioners in the state.

“On behalf of KMEK, I would like to thank the Prime Minister who cares about the welfare of media practitioners, especially in Kedah.

“This donation not only helps KMEK members who are involved in performing the sacrificial ritual, but the sacrificial meat is also distributed to those in need,” he said.

Meanwhile in Johor, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) also donated a cow to Kelab Media Johor (KMJ) for the sacrificial ritual in conjunction with this year's Aidiladha celebration.

KMJ deputy president 1 Mohamad Taufik Salimin said the donation was very meaningful to media personnel in Johor, especially in strengthening brotherhood and fostering the spirit of togetherness in conjunction with Aidiladha.

He said some of the meat was also distributed to the asnaf and residents around Taman Sierra Perdana, Masai, Johor Bahru.

"We are grateful that the distribution of this sacrificial meat could also be channeled to the asnaf and local residents in need," he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to PMO for its care and continuous support for the welfare of media practitioners in the state.
