SHAH ALAM, April 27 (Bernama) -- A total of 172 entrepreneurs in Selangor have received benefits through the Platform Selangor (PLATS) Biaya initiative, involving 190 financings worth RM570,000 since 2024.
State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship executive councillor (Exco) Mohd Najwan Halimi said the PLATS Biaya assistance was focused on the food, services and supply sectors, which are the backbone of the state’s micro economy.
“In strengthening the core of economic stabilisation for entrepreneurs, the state government is focusing on the implementation of PLATS Biaya as an immediate financial support mechanism that is fast, targeted and responsive to current needs.
“Under this initiative, qualified entrepreneurs can receive interest-free financing of up to RM3,000 with a repayment period of up to 12 months, while applications can be approved in as fast as 48 hours,” he said to reporters at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly building today.
He said the initiative is one of several initiatives managed by Yayasan Hijrah Selangor, which has channelled more than 93,000 financing to more than 62,000 entrepreneurs, totalling more than RM907.2 million since 2015.
He said the implementation of PLATS Biaya is part of efforts to strengthen the PLATS ecosystem as a comprehensive support model for entrepreneurs that links access to digitalisation, financing, development training and a network of collaboration between agencies.
He said that to date, 90,822 entrepreneurs have registered under PLATS, reflecting the encouraging response to the programme.
Meanwhile, Mohd Najwan said that under the U-PLATS initiative, the state government will continue to intensify the implementation of training programmes, capacity development and the digitalisation agenda to increase sales capabilities and reduce dependence on physical operating costs.
“Entrepreneurs involved will also receive free ‘POSPLATS’ devices to support the implementation of cashless transactions,” he said.
To assist urban and rural entrepreneurs, Mohd Najwan said the PLATS hotline was also established as a single reference centre for entrepreneurs to channel complaints, obtain information and access assistance faster and in a coordinated manner.
“The state government will continue to ensure that no micro-entrepreneurs are left behind in the current state of economic development," he added.
