HERE Unveils Enhanced NOA, Predictive Driving Capabilities At Auto China 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 (Bernama) -- HERE Technologies has unveiled new Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) capabilities at Auto China 2026, aimed at enabling automakers to deploy consistent Level 2++ automated driving experiences across global markets.

The company said the shift toward real-world automated driving requires predictable vehicle behaviour across different road systems, regulations and traffic conditions. HERE’s approach is built on a single artificial intelligence (AI)-powered road model that provides a shared “ground truth” for both human navigation and machine-based driving systems.

A key development is HERE Predictive Signal Timing, an AI-powered service currently in development that combines real-time traffic signal phase and timing data with historical patterns and machine learning to forecast signal changes. The system is being developed in collaboration with a broader ecosystem of technology partners, including Baidu Maps.

The predictive capability is designed to improve driving smoothness and safety by enabling vehicles to anticipate signal changes, adjust speed more efficiently, reduce abrupt braking, and enhance energy efficiency and estimated time of arrival accuracy, particularly in urban environments.

HERE in a statement said Predictive Signal Timing forms part of its broader intelligent driving roadmap and is intended to support more predictable behaviour for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), NOA and automated driving applications.

The company also highlighted enhanced lane-level intelligence designed specifically for NOA use cases, using a “route carpet” approach that identifies multiple safe and probable lane paths rather than a single fixed trajectory.

This allows vehicles and drivers to preview upcoming manoeuvres such as lane changes, merges and exits with continuously updated road context, improving predictability and confidence in automated driving performance.

HERE added that its live map intelligence serves as a unified data foundation for both cockpit navigation and automated driving systems, enabling consistent training, validation and deployment of NOA functions across regions.

By maintaining a shared, continuously updated road model, HERE said automakers can reduce system uncertainty and scale automated driving solutions more efficiently across international markets without needing to rebuild systems for each region.
