KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for continued efforts to nurture the culture of knowledge and revive turath texts, describing them as a vital platform to strengthen both the faith and intellectual growth of the people.
He said that in a world increasingly plagued by confusion over values and distortion of meaning, it is essential to deepen appreciation of Islamic knowledge treasures to ensure they remain relevant in contemporary society.
“In a world often in disarray, efforts to revive turath texts such as this serve as a vital platform for empowering the ummah,” he said in a Facebook post today, in conjunction with the launch of Aqaid al-Nasafi.
Anwar said that witnessing the launch of the work with prominent scholars underscored the ongoing legacy of the Islamic scholarly tradition across the archipelago.
“In a meaningful ceremony, I had the privilege of witnessing the launch of Aqaid al-Nasafi’s landmark work alongside distinguished scholars, including Prof Ungku Aziz, Prof Bakar Hamid and Prof Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas. It showcased the intellectual treasures that have long underpinned the Islamic scholarly tradition in the archipelago,” he said.
Anwar stressed that the true strength of a civilisation lies not only in its physical progress, but also on the solidity of faith and the depth of intellectual discourse.
He also called on the community to nurture a culture of knowledge through reading, reflection, and interpreting ideas with wisdom.
“Therefore, I urge all of us to continue nurturing a culture of knowledge through reading, reflection, and interpretation with wisdom, so that the legacy of this thought is not only remembered, but continues to thrive in our daily lives.
“That is where the true strength of a nation lies, rooted in a tradition of knowledge and the resilience of faith,” he said.
