Murakami Farm Taiwan Licensing Business Gains Momentum As Sprout Sales Double

KUALA LUMPUR, March 30 (Bernama) -- Murakami Farm Co Ltd announced that sales of its "Broccoli Super Sprouts", produced under licence by Taiwanese company Greenvines, doubled year-on-year in fiscal year 2025 (FY2025), marking rapid progress in the company’s first overseas licensing venture.

Boasting the top market share of sprouts in Japan, Murakami Farm entered into a licence agreement for the production and sales of sprout products with Greenvines in the Taiwan region in 2021, with shipments beginning in 2022.

The strong growth is attributed to the combination of increasing health awareness among local people and high confidence in the Japanese brand. Murakami Farm systematises its extensive know-how in material seed selection, production/quality management, and marketing, providing its latest techniques to Greenvines.

The market expansion is supported by regional trends, including a rapidly rising ratio of people eating out due to the increase in double-income households, which has resulted in inadequate intake of fresh vegetables. Furthermore, the Taiwan region's population is ageing, mirroring Japan's demographic shift and driving greater health-consciousness.

"Broccoli Super Sprouts", which feature high concentrations of the beneficial compound "sulforaphane", are gaining significant support among highly health-conscious individuals, according to a statement.

The growing demand is also bolstered by consumers' trust in the safety and production/quality management standards provided under the Japanese-branded licensed product.

To ensure consistent quality, the sulforaphane content in the product produced in Taiwan is regularly measured at Murakami Farm’s Sulforaphane Laboratory, realising a system for controlled production and shipping.

Murakami Farm’s licensing project is part of its broader strategy to expand overseas, focusing on Asia. The company aims to leverage its plant factory techniques to deliver high-quality sprout products year-round, independent of environmental conditions, while contributing to local health and expanding its international business footprint.
