SHAH ALAM, March 11 (Bernama) -- A contractor was robbed of more than RM9,000 in cash by armed men at an oil palm plantation in Bukit Perah, Banting near here yesterday.

Kuala Langat Police chief Supt Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said the victim, a man in his 50s, was approached by the two suspects who asked for directions to exit the plantation after claiming they were lost.

He said one of the suspects then produced a parang, tied the victim’s hands and feet, and kicked him in the face.

“The suspects fled with a white Toyota Hilux, an Oppo mobile phone, as well as the complainant’s personal belongings including important documents and cash estimated at RM9,500.

“Following police investigations and intelligence gathering, the vehicle was recovered within an hour after it was abandoned by the suspects at the roadside along Jalan Prima in Puchong,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Akmalrizal urged members of the public with information on the incident to go to the nearest police station or contact the Kuala Langat Police headquarters operations room at 03-3187 2222.

The case is being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code.
