11 Rahmah Ramadan Bazaars Set Up Across Perak

IPOH, Feb 24 (Bernama) -- The Perak Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has designated 11 Rahmah Ramadan Bazaar (BRR) locations statewide this year under the Payung Rahmah MADANI programme to help ease the cost of living during Ramadan.

Perak KPDN director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail said a total of 465 traders are offering Juadah Rahmah priced at RM5 and below as an additional menu option to ensure lower-income groups can purchase affordable breaking-of-fast meals.

The BRR locations are at Taman Cempaka and Taman Perpaduan in Ipoh; Taman Chandan Putri in Kuala Kangsar; near OCBC Bank and Simpang Empat Hutan Melintang in Teluk Intan; Pekan Gerik; Kamunting in Taiping; in front of the Tapah District Council office; Ramadan Bazaar Slim River, Tapah; behind the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) Stadium; and Dewan Kerian Permai in Parit Buntar.

“Traders offering Juadah Rahmah can apply digitally for a Special Rahmah Menu Discount Card, allowing faster approval for those registered with KPDN,” he told reporters after a walkabout and the launch of Taman Cempaka BRR and the Ihsan Food Bank (i-FB) programme near here today.

Kamalludin said the initiative also focuses on reducing food waste through i-FB, a rebranded MySaveFood (MSF) programme

Last year, the i-FB programme at 15 BRR locations in Perak saved 6,324 kilograms of food from being wasted, benefiting more than 500 people. The food was valued at RM80,325.19 and helped reduce carbon emissions by 6,605.48 kilograms.

The programme is carried out by Pertubuhan Pemuda GEMA Malaysia in collaboration with Perak KPDN and Perak Student Consumer Movement.

Meanwhile, Kamalludin said Ops Pantau 2026 is being conducted from Feb 19 to March 20 to ensure traders comply with price display regulations and practise ethical business during Ramadan.

As of yesterday, 860 premises statewide had been inspected, with 27 cases issued on-the-spot compounds totalling RM6,000 involving grocery shops, supermarkets and other businesses.

“Of the 27 cases, 23 were for failing to display price tags, while four involved offences under the Weights and Measures Act 1972, including the use of uncertified or expired weighing instruments,” he said.
