JELEBU, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- The Dato’ Undang Luak Jelebu Mosque, built at a cost of RM8.85 million, has been fully completed and is now ready for use by the local congregation, particularly with Ramadan approaching.

Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said construction of the mosque on a 1.974-hectare site began in March 2022, and the facility can accommodate up to 1,000 worshippers.

He said the project reflects the Federal government’s continued commitment to meeting the community’s needs while strengthening spiritual development and social well-being.

“I would like to express my appreciation to the Federal government and the State Development Office for their commitment and cooperation in ensuring the successful completion of this mosque.

“I also call on congregants and the mosque committee, with guidance from the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAINS), to manage and enliven the mosque sincerely, with integrity and on a continuous basis,” he said at the handover ceremony of the mosque here today.

The Port Dickson MP said the mosque is equipped with supporting facilities, including a multipurpose hall, administrative office, funeral management room, audio system, comfortable ablution facilities, a 25.2-metre minaret and designated parking spaces for persons with disabilities (PWD).

He added that the facilities should not merely be admired for their physical structure, but should be fully utilised responsibly for the benefit of the ummah.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin said the state government has allocated RM16.05 million this year to develop and strengthen Islamic institutions in Negeri Sembilan.

The allocation covers mosque and surau development, religious education, mosque activities, asnaf welfare and the strengthening of religious administration.

“For this year, RM6.5 million has been allocated to upgrade the State Mosque and maintain mosques statewide, while RM5.05 million is allocated for allowances for mosque officials, caretakers and female assistants,” he said.
