KOTA BHARU, Jan 29 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak government, through the Islamic Education Bureau, will channel RM1 million to the Muslim Welfare Organisation Malaysia (PERKIM)’s Institut Dakwah Islamiah (IDIP) for the construction of a new male students’ hostel.
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that the hostel aims to provide a more comfortable and secure living environment for male students pursuing their studies at the institute.
“We already have a good hostel for female students, but there is a need to build a new hostel with enhanced security for male students. Therefore, the Sarawak government, through the state Islamic Education Bureau, will contribute RM1 million for the construction of a new male student hostel.
“In addition, we are also contributing RM20,000 to PERKIM Kelantan,” he said after the 29th IDIP Certificate Presentation ceremony at Kompleks Islam Jubli Perak Sultan Ismail Petra, Panji, here today.
At the ceremony, a total of 104 graduates received certificates, comprising 39 recipients of the Basic Certificate in Islamic Studies (SAP) and 65 recipients of the Certificate in Islamic Studies (SPI).
Commenting further, Abang Johari, who is also PERKIM president, said that IDIP consistently emphasises the importance of knowledge as the foundation for building a pious, virtuous and competitive society.
“IDIP has emerged as a leading platform in producing dakwah cadres who are not only well-versed in knowledge but also capable of conveying Islamic teachings effectively to the community.
“In addition, IDIP places strong emphasis on leadership development and professional skills to ensure its graduates are able to face the challenges of the modern world without compromising Islamic values,” he said.
