SIK, Jan 28 (Bernama) -- A forested area at Bukit Seri Ternas, Tasik Beris, near here was reported to have caught fire this morning.
Sik District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Jamil Mat Daud said his department received a call alerting them to the incident at 9.38 am.
“The operations commander who arrived at the scene was informed by a ranger that a forest fire had occurred on a hill at an elevation of 91.44 metres above sea level.
“The access route to the location is rocky, with many bamboo trees present... an initial assessment by rangers at the site estimated that the affected area covers about one hectare,” he said in a statement today.
According to Mohd Jamil, a request has been submitted through the Fire and Rescue Department of (JBPM) eUdara System for helicopter assistance to conduct aerial surveillance and firefighting using the water bombing method.
