Kinabatangan, Lamag By-Elections: Bernama Journalist Makes Time To Fulfil Civic Duty

KINABATANGAN, Jan 24 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) staff member today found time to vote despite her busy schedule covering the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections.

Bernama Sabah Bureau news officer Rohana Nasrah, 39, who has been on the ground in Kinabatangan since Jan 7, cast her vote at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bukit Garam II here.

Rohana said her work commitments during the by-elections did not prevent her from exercising her civic duty as a voter in the parliamentary and state constituencies.

According to her, this was her second time turning out to vote, the first being during the 15th General Election in 2022.

“This experience is very meaningful because I got the chance to turn out to vote. Even though I’ve been busy with my reporting assignments, it’s important to fulfil this responsibility for a better future in the constituencies.

“Every vote matters in choosing a representative and party that will carry the people’s aspirations and shape the future development of the district,” she said.

The Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election is a three-cornered between involving Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar (Barisan Nasional), Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman (Warisan) and Goldam Hamid (Independent), while the Lamag seat sees a straight fight between Mohd Ismail Ayob (BN) and Mazliwati Abdul Malek (Warisan).

Both by-elections were called following the death of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, 66, on Dec 5 last year.
