KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 (Bernama) -- Cabinet ministers have taken to their social media platforms to extend Israk Mikraj 1447H greetings to Muslims nationwide, urging that the significant event be used as an opportunity for self-reflection, to foster discipline, and to reinforce unity.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil emphasised the importance of prayer as the pillar of faith and the connection between humans and their Creator.

“The event of Israk and Mikraj teaches us that prayer is the pillar of faith and the link between humans and the Creator. May we remain steadfast in our worship. Truly, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing,” he said in a Facebook post today.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said Israk Mikraj imparts lessons on patience, faith, and absolute obedience to Allah SWT’s commands, particularly when facing life’s challenges.

“This is the night where Allah Subhanahu wa-Ta'ala made our five daily prayers obligatory. This highlights the importance of prayer as the foundation for character development, self-discipline, and spiritual well-being for Muslims.

“It also teaches patience, faith, and absolute obedience to the commands of Allah Subhanahu wa-Ta'ala, especially in confronting life’s challenges,” he said.

The event of Israk and Mikraj marks the pivotal moment when the five daily prayers were ordained as an obligation for Muslims. It is also the occasion when Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) experienced the profound greatness of Allah SWT firsthand, a year prior to his migration from Mekah to Madinah.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Israk Mikraj should serve as a reminder for self-reflection, strengthening faith, and nurturing good morals in every aspect of life.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said that in today’s challenging world, prayer provides spiritual strength that calms the heart, guides actions, and reflects a balance between worldly and spiritual responsibilities.

“Prayer not only disciplines the self, but also strengthens human bonds, shapes character, and builds personal integrity. May the event of Israk Mikraj serves as an opportunity for self-reflection, strengthen our faith, unite hearts, and encourage us to fulfil our responsibilities with dedication and commitment,” he said.
