MELAKA, Jan 13 (Bernama) -- A man pleaded guilty at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court here today to a charge of stealing and dealing in stolen property, namely gold and jewellery, worth RM254,000, belonging to the State Financial Officer.
Judge Rohatul Akmal Abdullah set this Thursday (Jan 15) to hear the facts of the case and sentencing of Mohd Zakuan Abdul Rashid, 35.
On the first count, Mohd Zakuan was charged with stealing a gold bracelet, two diamond rings, two diamond bracelets, 17 gold bars and RM20 in cash from the official residence of State Financial Officer Datuk Salhah Salleh at Bukit Peringgit here.
The offence, under Section 380 of the Penal Code, was committed between June 2024 and December 2025.
He is also charged under Section 413 of the Penal Code with trading in stolen property in Kampung Paya Rumput here during the same period.
Meanwhile, gold trader Noazira Jaafar, 41, (rpt: Noazira Jaafar), pleaded not guilty to the charge of dealing with the stolen propertyat Kampung Paya Rumput during the same period.
The woman, represented by lawyer Ishak Kari (rpt: Ishak Kari), was allowed bail of RM20,000 and also ordered to report to the nearest police station every month.
The court set Feb 10 for mention.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Asri Abd Rahman Sidik prosecuted in both cases.
