Sultan Nazrin Graces Lumut Port's 30th Anniversary Dinner

IPOH, Jan 9 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, graced the 30th Anniversary Dinner of Lumut Maritime Terminal Sdn Bhd (Lumut Port) at Galasa Caldwell here tonight.

His Royal Highness was accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim.

Also present were Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Lumut Port chief executive officer Datuk Mubarak Ali Gulam Rasul.

In his speech, Mubarak Ali said 2015 marked a pivotal year for Lumut Port when the company embarked on a strategic transformation.

“This transformation was driven by three strategic business plans from 2016 to 2026, with a total expenditure of nearly RM400 million, using 58 per cent of internal funds and reducing reliance on bank loans,” he said.

Mubarak Ali added that Lumut Port successfully implemented all the strategic business plans and was now planning a fourth strategic plan spanning 20 years until 2045, with an investment of RM550 million.

He said Lumut Port Terminal 2 was expected to begin operations in the third quarter of this year, marking another key milestone in the port’s history.

The fourth strategic plan includes expansion of Lumut Port Terminal 1, with Terminal 2 set to become one of the country’s liquefied gas handling terminals.

“Lumut Port Terminal 3 is currently under development and is expected to be completed by 2027. We are also finalising the site for Lumut Port Terminal 4. Our clear goal is to ensure Lumut Port remains relevant, resilient, and ready to face future challenges, continuing as a key driver of Perak’s economy,” he said.

At tonight’s event, Saarani presented Lumut Port Customer Awards to 14 recipients and recognition plaques to seven staff who have served from 1995 to 2025.

The evening concluded with a performance by prominent national artist Anuar Zain before Sultan Nazrin and Tuanku Zara departed.
