Budget 2026's Focus On High-tech Sustainable Economy Mirrors Grab Malaysia's Mission

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Budget 2026’s focus on strengthening public-sector governance and driving a high-tech sustainable economy while ensuring inclusive growth, talent development and support for small businesses mirrors Grab Malaysia’s mission to serve and empower all Malaysians to continue thriving within the current dynamic landscape.

Grab Malaysia managing director Adelene Foo said through technology solutions, the e-hailing company continuously enhances the experience for both users and partners, reflecting its ongoing mission to serve and empower all Malaysians, in line with the national priorities.

“At Grab Malaysia, we remain committed to continue collaborating with the government and like-minded, industry stakeholders to future-proof the nation,” she said in a statement today.

She said Grab Malaysia is advancing practical artificial intelligence (AI) to improve everyday experiences for driver, delivery and merchant partners as well as consumers, including from AI-enabled hyperlocal mapping, GrabMaps, for better address accuracy and routing, to AI Driver Companion, a ride-guidance feature that helps drivers find demand faster, and AI Merchant Assistant, a tool that drives growth and streamlines operations for micro, small and medium entreprises (MSMEs).

“This aligns with the government’s push under Budget 2026 to accelerate AI adoption and strengthen digital infrastructure. As Malaysia advances its growth agenda, we will continue investing in our partners and products so more Malaysians can earn, trade and move with confidence in the digital economy,” she said.

Foo said the company appreciated initiatives such as the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme, which helps e-hailing driver-partners manage daily operating costs, and hoped that such initiatives would continue to evolve to benefit a wider segment of gig workers.

“Our commitment to the well-being of our partners has always been our priority, and we have consistently invested in their welfare and safety over the years.

“This is translated into various efforts and benefits, including insurance coverage, contribution access to Social Security Organisation (Socso), safety features and enhancements, as well as day-to-day benefits such as financing support, savings on fuel and daily expenses,” she said.

At the same time, she said Grab continued to equip partners with new skills through GrabAcademy programmes in safety, digital tools and compliance, helping them raise productivity and build long-term earnings resilience.
