KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) and Bioeconomy Corporation have jointly organised the BioXCeed 2025 event to integrate bio-based innovation with deeptech commercialisation.

In a statement today, MTDC said the initiative strengthens Malaysia’s innovation ecosystem and advances the transition towards a high-value, sustainable economy.

BioXCeed 2025, which concluded today, was held in conjunction with the National Innovation and Commercialisation Expo (NICE 2025).

NICE 2025 is Malaysia’s premier platform for innovation and commercialisation. It was held from Oct 6-9.

“BioXCeed 2025 was a platform for commercialisation with bio-based innovations linked with MTDC’s proven ecosystem of entrepreneurs, researchers, investors and industry players," the statement said.

At the heart of BioXCeed 2025 was the BioInnovation Launchpad to guide researchers, graduates, and entrepreneurs to advance solutions from laboratory to market, the statement said.

MTDC group chief executive officer Mohammad Hazani Hassan said: “BioInnovation Launchpad was about throughput.

“It created tangible outcomes by connecting innovations to the wider deep-tech ecosystem to ensure entrepreneurs have the support to commercialise successfully. The aim was to ensure that research outputs were both innovative and marketable to produce high-value, globally relevant technologies,” Hazani said.

The programme provided structured coaching, business mentoring, and exposure to potential investors to produce startups capable of obtaining Bio-based Accelerator (BBA) or BioNexus Status recognition under Malaysia’s bioeconomy framework.

NICE 2025 was organised by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry with implementing agency Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation.

Other highlights today included the investor-ready teams pitching for pre-seed awards, a showcase of MTDC companies involved in artificial intelligence, automation, bio and green technology and Industry 4.0, and business matching sessions.

"BioXCeed aligned closely with national development policies, including the 12th Malaysia Plan, the National Industrial Master Plan 2030, and the Malaysia MADANI vision, which collectively emphasise sustainable, innovation-led industrial growth," the statement said.
