KOTA KINABALU, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- The Sabah government today voiced concern over the detention of Zizi Kirana and Sul Aidil, two Sabah-born participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission to Gaza.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the state government viewed their involvement and bravery in the mission as something that brings pride to Sabahans and Malaysians alike.
“The state government believes the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) and Foreign Minister (Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan) will pursue the best diplomatic channels to secure the swift release of all detained Malaysian volunteers.
“We pray for the safety and freedom of those who serve in the name of humanity,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Hajiji also called on Sabahans, regardless of their religion, race, or political leanings, to stand united and show solidarity in this humanitarian issue.
As of 7.50 am Malaysian time, 17 Malaysians were reported to have lost contact with the Sumud Nusantara Control Centre after their vessel was intercepted.
They included Zizi Kirana, who was on board the Huga vessel, and Sul Aidil, who was on Alma.
