KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 15 (Bernama) -- On this Malaysia Day, all people are called upon to move forward with renewed commitment to a Malaysia that is united, inclusive, and balanced, where no region or community is left behind.

Alliance for a Safe Community chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said Malaysia’s future will be brighter if Malaysians continue to strengthen trust between regions, bridge development gaps, and uphold justice for all citizens.

“The promise of Malaysia is not only in its economic progress, but also in the values of moderation, mutual respect, and unity that bind us as one people.

“On this Malaysia Day, we commemorate the historic moment in 1963 when Sabah and Sarawak came together with Malaya to form Malaysia – a union built on trust, mutual respect, and shared aspirations,” he said in a statement today.

He noted that more than six decades on, Malaysia’s strength continues to lie in its diversity.

Lee said Malaysia’s unity as a nation is not uniformity, but the coming together of different cultures, traditions, and identities bound by one common destiny.

“As we celebrate, let us also reaffirm the spirit of partnership that formed our Federation.

“True unity requires regional integration that is fair and inclusive. Balanced development must be the cornerstone of our progress, ensuring that Sabah and Sarawak are never left behind,” he said.

He said the nation’s wealth and opportunities must be shared equitably so that every Malaysian, from Johor to Sabah and from Perlis to Sarawak, can prosper together.

Malaysia Day 2025, themed ‘Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni’, will be held tomorrow at the PICCA Convention Centre@Arena Butterworth, Penang, featuring a variety of activities.
