Ideas, Skills And Exploring New Fields Key To Future Employment Success - Aznan

MERSING, Sept 7 (Bernama) -- The keys to future employment success lie in the ability to realise ideas, enhance skills, and explore new fields, said Johor Education and Information Committee chairman, Aznan Tamin.

He said that one of the most promising paths is skills-based entrepreneurship, which offers independence in addition to potentially generating significant income with flexible working arrangements.

Aznan emphasised that graduates today should not be mere job seekers but also job creators, forging opportunities for themselves and others.

"The entrepreneurial spirit amongst community college graduates is becoming increasingly evident. We are seeing initiatives like mobile workshops, rural e-commerce, door-to-door engineering services, and various production and service-based ventures," he said.

"You (graduates) are agents of social revolution. Many of our students have become micro-entrepreneurs, digital community leaders, advisors in smart agriculture, professional tailors, and technicians who contribute directly to the nation's productivity," he said during his speech at the 2025 Kolej Komuniti Johor convocation ceremony at Politeknik Mersing today.

Aznan described Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates as the unsung economic heroes who revitalise industry and society through critical fields such as culinary arts and hospitality, automotive technology, fashion and design, information and digital technology, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.

He noted that technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data Analytics, Large Language Models (LLM), and automation now form a significant part of the employment sector.

“We are now in an era of skills revolution, where TVET is no longer a secondary option, but a primary pathway to building a sustainable and competitive nation.

"The world of today is not the same as it was ten years ago… we must not only adapt to these changes, but graduates must also strive to master and creatively integrate these advancements innovatively within their chosen fields," he said.

A total of 615 graduates received their Diplomas and Certificates at the ceremony.
