National Women’s Policy 2025–2030 Introduces Measures To Tackle Domestic Violence

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 2 (Bernama) -- The National Women’s Policy (DWN) 2025–2030, under the Women’s Development Action Plan (PTPW), introduces measures to tackle domestic violence against women.

Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said these measures include a women’s safety sub-index under the Public Safety and Security Index and expanding social protection for survivors of domestic violence. 

“They cover strengthening service delivery through officers, communities of practice and support services, as well as increasing advocacy programmes to eliminate violence against women,” she told the Dewan Negara during question time today.

She was responding to Senator Datuk Rosni Sohar, who asked about new approaches under the DWN 2025–2030 to tackle current challenges such as violence against women, workplace gender discrimination, the gender pay gap, and women’s participation in the digital economy and informal sector.

Noraini added that the PTPW places priority on empowering women in the digital economy and informal sector with initiatives designed to strengthen their participation and opportunities.

“Key initiatives include creating a dedicated platform for women micro-entrepreneurs to access business opportunities, providing entrepreneurship training and micro-financing, with the target of registering and empowering one million women entrepreneurs by 2030, as well as boosting women’s participation in agriculture, fisheries, plantations and agri-food,” she said.

Noraini said that in light of current challenges, the DWN 2025–2030 sets out measures to address the gender pay gap and the double burden on women, including mainstreaming gender perspectives in policy and budget planning.

She added that gender audits will be introduced for high-impact programmes and projects to ensure equitable access and active participation of women, alongside efforts to strengthen a conducive work ecosystem through incentives for family-friendly employers.

Awareness campaigns on gender equality and gender-sensitivity advocacy programmes will also be implemented across sectors to advance these goals, she said.
