KUANTAN, July 31 (Bernama) -- The Pahang government has launched the Kasih Makmur Health Card - Warrior Edition for 10,000 veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) residing in the state, in conjunction with National Warriors' Day today.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said each recipient would receive healthcare benefits worth RM500 for medical treatment, the purchase of medication, health screenings and services at private clinics registered with the state government.
"This will also reduce their waiting time at government hospitals. I hope they will make good use of this card," he said at a press conference after officiating at the MAF and PDRM Veterans’ Afternoon Tea in conjunction with the state-level Warriors' Day celebration here today.
He said the initiative, involving an allocation of RM5 million, will begin next year.
Wan Rosdy said the state government has also approved an allocation of RM50,000 each for the MAF Veterans Association and the PDRM Veterans Association to support their activities.
"I assure you that military and police veterans in our state will not be neglected, and we will continue to look after their welfare from time to time. This initiative cannot compare to the sacrifices they made in defending the peace of our state and country," he said.
Warriors' Day is observed on July 31 each year to honour the contributions of security forces who have sacrificed for the nation.
