KUALA LUMPUR, July 31 (Bernama) -- The Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) will host the 14th edition of the SSM National Conference (SSMNC) in 2025, continuing its commitment to advancing discussions on corporate governance and regulatory practices in Malaysia.
This year’s conference will carry the timely and impactful theme, “Leading Governance for Sustainable Growth,” emphasising visionary leadership, sound governance and long-term business resilience.
The two-day hybrid conference, scheduled on Aug 19-20, 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and online, aims to provide a dynamic platform for corporate professionals to engage in meaningful discussions and enhance their understanding of governance practices, regulatory trends and sustainable development strategies.
Over the years, SSMNC has made its mark as an earnest discourse and networking platform for business and corporate professionals to remain informed and connected in an evolving business landscape.
SSM chief executive officer Datuk Nor Azimah Abdul Aziz said the theme chosen for this year’s national conference reflects governance as a strategic advantage and the importance of leadership in driving sustainable business growth across ASEAN and globally.
“It also highlights SSM’s continued commitment to promoting responsible business practices and fostering long-term business resilience through robust corporate governance.
“As businesses face increasingly complex challenges, robust governance practices help organisations make better decisions, manage risks responsibly and build long-term trust with stakeholders,” she said.
Nor Azimah said SSMNC 2025 will bring together diverse perspectives to shape governance strategies that drive both resilience and responsible growth.
This year’s conference will feature 13 plenary sessions, with 36 distinguished speakers from ASEAN countries and 15 exhibitors.
The lineup of speakers are distinguished fellow, Institute for Capital Market Research and chairman, George Town Institute of Open and Advanced Studies, Wawasan Open University Tan Sri Andrew Sheng; visiting scholar, Precourt Institute for Energy, Stanford University Gita Irawan Wirjawan and broadcast journalist and producer Nadia S. Hassan.
The speakers include Securities and Exchange Commission, Philippines commissioner Javey Paul D. Francisco; Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, Singapore deputy chief executive Leong Weng Tat and Enterprise and Stakeholders Engagement Division, ASEAN Secretariat senior officer Izniza Afzan Mustafa Albakri.
Other speakers are Lim Chee Wee Partnership managing partner Lee Shih; Director, Insolvency, Policy and Legal Division of Malaysia Department of Insolvency Azniza Mohd Ali; Ernst & Young PLT senior executive director, strategy and transactions Andrew Hoh and Judicial Commissioner of the High Court of Kuala Lumpur (Commercial 11) (Insolvency 2) Saheran Suhendran.
The speakers include Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Hanafiah Harunarashid; UCSI Healthcare Group chairman Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah and Naluri chief executive officer Azran Osman-Rani.
