AKPS Nabs 13 Foreigners Posing As Newly Arrived Passengers At KLIA T2

PUTRAJAYA, July 30 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) thwarted an attempt by 13 foreigners posing as newly arrived passengers to get through the Immigration Department (JIM) inspection at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2 (T2).

The AKPS said the 13 - eight men and one woman from India and four Pakistani men - were found to have tried to sneak back into the inspection line after being ordered to undergo further inspection at the JIM operations office.

"They were part of 270 foreigners who were inspected. They are believed to have changed their clothes in the transit area and posed as newly arrived visitors to deceive authorities,” it said in a statement today.

It added that their tactic was foiled thanks to the strict monitoring and efficiency of the AKPS security team, which acted swiftly to detect their suspicious movement before they could get past Immigration control.

As part of its prevention measures, the AKPS said it will tighten monitoring in the transit area through more frequent patrols, closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera monitoring and stricter checking procedures.

The AKPS also called on all parties at KLIA to continue to be alert and channel any information if they detect any suspicious activities to ensure the safety and integrity of the country's entry point.
