IPOH, July 29 (Bernama) -- Three pairs of 18-year-old twins were among 1,727 new students who registered at Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) here to pursue studies in various fields.
PUO Student Affairs Department head Mohd Fakrul Razi Jamaluddin said all six students registered at the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institution over the weekend.
“The twins are Nurul Syafriena Nasaruddin and Nurul Syafrieza from Rawang, Selangor, who will be taking a Diploma in Business Studies, while Saw Xin Ying and Saw Xin Yi have enrolled in the Diploma in Electronic Engineering (Computer).
“Another pair, D. Sharran and D. Sharanie, chose the Diploma in Accounting programme,” he said in a statement today.
Mohd Fakrul Razi said the unique occurrence enlivened the registration process and reflected PUO’s appeal as a leading TVET higher education institution.
He said PUO achieved a milestone by recording a 100 per cent enrolment rate for the 2025/2026 Session 1 intake, meeting its full quota with 914 students registering on July 26 and 813 students the following day.
“The entire PUO community celebrated this 100 per cent achievement with great enthusiasm. It reflects the confidence of parents and students in the quality of education and conducive learning environment offered by PUO,” he said.
