PM Anwar Hopes Saturday's Rally Will Be Peaceful And Orderly

KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has taken note of the planned rally this Saturday and, as someone who upholds constitutional principles and the spirit of reform, he has urged for it to proceed peacefully and in an orderly manner.

The Prime Minister's senior press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Daily Briefing today, said Anwar has instructed the police to provide appropriate cooperation to ensure public safety and the smooth conduct of the rally.

“Secondly, the MADANI Government’s stance is clear and consistent — we celebrate democracy. The right to express opinions, including from those who oppose the government, is an essential element of a free and just nation. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, this space has not only been opened widely but also respected.

“Any disagreement with the government, including through public demonstrations, will not be suppressed blindly. On the contrary, it is seen as part of a healthy and mature democratic practice, as long as it does not violate the law or threaten public safety.

“Let us continue to uphold democracy with reason, maturity and a sense of responsibility,” he said.

He added that the MADANI Government stands firm not by stifling criticism, but by embracing tolerance with compassion and steadfastness.

“We may plan, but Allah is the best of planners and the ultimate determiner of all outcomes,” he said.

Yesterday, acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad was reported as saying police had received 60 reports from across the country as of Wednesday regarding the rally, scheduled to take place here.

The gathering is expected to draw between 10,000 and 15,000 participants, involving a coalition of non-governmental organisations, university students and members of the public.

Meanwhile, Tunku Nashrul said in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 celebrations, the government is launching the "Bersama Malaysiaku" movement as a platform to foster unity and ignite patriotism through the participation of Malaysians from all walks of life.

He said participation in the campaign, open until Sept 30, will feature the "Face of Malaysia" through a collection of photos of citizens from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.

The public is invited to capture and share moments of service by uploading their photos to the official Bersama Malaysiaku website at bersamamalaysiaku.malaysiamadani.gov.my.

“Insya-Allah, selected photos will be featured on the Prime Minister’s social media platforms, government agency channels, television stations and digital displays — reminding millions of Malaysians that independence is not just a chapter in history, but a shared journey driven by each and every citizen,” he said.

He added that the movement aligns with the aspirations of the 13th Malaysia Plan, to be tabled by the Prime Minister on July 31, which aims to build a nation grounded in compassion and justice, where every contribution is recognised as the heartbeat of Malaysia MADANI.
