KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 (Bernama) -- The establishment of Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI) spearheaded by MIMOS Bhd is aimed at catalysing Malaysia's digital advancement by fostering digital integration and a unified blockchain infrastructure.

MIMOS president and group chief executive officer, Dr Saat Shukri Embong, highlighted that the MBI unifies various blockchains within a single interface, allowing users to access and conduct transactions across different platforms.

He noted that the primary objective of MBI is to allow every blockchain operator to participate in a unified system that is technologically compatible across the board.

"Our vision with MBI is to create a platform that enables everyone to participate and makes the system seamless in the sense that it is interoperable from one technology to another, one operator to another, and one system to another.

"With MBI, we could develop a new mechanism to help both the government and businesses anticipate future trends, which in turn will spur more economic activity and attract new players," he told Bernama after the launch of MBI at the Malaysia Blockchain Week (MBW) 2025, today.

The platform was launched by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Chang Lih Kang, during the opening of MBW 2025.

According to Chang, the MBI aligns with the National Blockchain Roadmap 2021-2025 outlined by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), and will position Malaysia at the forefront of digital trust infrastructure.

"The MBI will have a profound impact on Malaysia’s economy by creating a trusted, interoperable digital backbone that enhances transparency, efficiency, and security across industries.

"MOSTI remains committed to formulating and implementing policies and initiatives, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital, to ensure broader adoption of blockchain technology across key national sectors such as government administration, finance and banking, halal industry, and trade and supply chain," he said in his keynote speech.

Meanwhile, Saat explained that MIMOS is working closely with its pioneering partners, Zetrix and Masverse, to complete the initiative, which will serve as an aggregator platform, unifying diverse blockchain ecosystems into a single interface.

"Hopefully, by the end of the year, we can have a common platform. Without full integration, we won’t truly understand the challenges.

“We are starting with one system and building from there, and ultimately, we hope to create a unified framework that everyone can operate on,” he concluded.
