SANDAKAN, July 16 (Bernama) – The Royal Malaysian Navy’s (RMN) Eastern Fleet Command has taken delivery of four new high-speed interceptor boats to boost maritime security operations.

In a statement, the Eastern Fleet Command said the FIC G2000 MKII boats are equipped with a Remote Control Weapon Station and a 12.7mm heavy machine gun, allowing for remote-operated, high-precision firing.

The vessels are capable of reaching speeds of up to 50 knots.

“These additions will enhance the Navy’s operational readiness, particularly in eastern Sabah, in facing maritime threats and safeguarding national waters,” the statement said.

The delivery is part of a phased acquisition of 13 interceptor boats, with two earlier units handed over in February 2024.

The handover ceremony was officiated by Defence Ministry deputy secretary-general (Development), Datuk Mohd Shaiful Ibrahim, and followed by the signing of the handover documents between Gading Marine and the RMN.
