KUANTAN, July 16 (Bernama) -- The Pahang Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) seized a skid tank and 17,000 litres of diesel estimated to be worth more than RM53,000 on suspicion of being stored without a permit at a location in Indera Mahkota 8, here today.

Pahang KPDN chief enforcement officer Mohd Hafiz Ramli said six enforcement officers were involved in Ops Tiris which began at 9.30 am following intelligence conducted by his party for a month regarding the activity.

"Based on the documents submitted, this premise does not have a permit to store diesel at the location, thus raising suspicions of a violation of the law," he told reporters at the location of the seizure here today.

Mohd Hafiz said his party also arrested six foreign men, four Bangladeshis and two Myanmar nationals aged between 20 and 29, who worked at the location and were believed to be transporting the diesel to telecommunications towers.

"From the information obtained, they have been operating in this area for over a year to deliver diesel for use in the generators of 33 telecommunications towers around this district," he said.

Also seized were two four-wheel drive vehicles carrying drums of diesel believed to be for storage and delivery purposes, estimated to be worth RM140,000, as well as related documents for further action.

The case is being investigated under Regulation 21(1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974, which is storing controlled goods such as diesel other than in a licensed place and Section 20(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 for moving controlled goods from a licensed location to an unlicensed location.
