BATU GAJAH, July 15 (Bernama) -- Syilis brand nasi lemak sambal will be going places literally as the Perak product will be served inflight on the meal menu on Saudi Airlines flights, thus penetrating the Saudi Arabian market.
Syilis Food Manufacturing Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Shahrol Annaz Abdul Nasir said 4,000 packs of the company's sambal nasi lemak, chicken rendang and meat pastes were exported to be used on the inflight meal menu on Saudi Airline.
“Initially, we exported more than 1,000 packs of sambal pastes and subsequently, we received orders for about 9,000 more sambal packs for Saudi Airlines,” he said after the sendoff ceremony for containers of sambal and cooking paste products from Syilis Food Manufacturing to the Saudi Arabian market here today.
Also present was the chairman of the Perak Women, Family, Social Welfare, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee, Datuk Salbiah Mohamed.
Shahrol Annaz said his company’s products were also exported to Japan, Brunei and Singapore.
The history of the production of Syilis products began in 2020 during the Movement Control Order (MCO) with the earliest product produced being sambal hijau ikan bilis followed by sambal hijau petai.
The former production manager started the business with a capital of RM100 by producing 20 bottles of sambal hijau under the name Meksaleh as the start of selling the ready-to-eat product.
Meanwhile, Salbiah said Syilis' success in the international market was hoped to inspire other entrepreneurs in Perak to export and strengthen their respective brands.
”We need to emulate Syilis' proactive approach in providing high-quality products, complete export documentation, compliance with international standards and effective market strategies," she said.
Salbiah said that through the Perak State Market, Product, Service and Export Expansion Programme involving 26 entrepreneurs from the state, it is expected to record potential contracts amounting to RM8.4 million as of the first seven months of this year.
She said the value was obtained through the Brunei Consumer Fair & Trade Expo 2025, Fine Food New Zealand 2025 in Auckland and World Expo Osaka 2025 in Japan.
She added that a total of RM582,000 in cash sales was successfully achieved through the three expos this year.
