1.POLICE PROBE MAJOR RICE COMPANIES OVER ALLEGED PREMIUM LABEL FRAUD -- JAKARTA GLOBE

The National Police announced on Saturday that 26 premium rice brands are under investigation for alleged mislabelling and price gouging, following a report from Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman.

 

2.MINISTRY URGES QURAN TEACHERS TO GET PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION -- ANTARA

The Ministry of Religious Affairs is encouraging Quran teachers to get certified by the Tilawati Professional Certification Institute (LSP Tilawati) to enhance their quality and get professional recognition.

 

 

MYANMAR 

 

1.INCREASING FISH STOCK IN YEZIN DAM  -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The monsoon fingerling releasing ceremony was held at the Yezin Dam in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday to boost fish resources. About 200,000 fingerlings — golden carps, rohu and silver bards - were released. About 885,700 fingerlings have been released into the dam since 2011.

 

2.MYANMAR-KOREA FRIENDSHIP BRIDGE OPENING SOON -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The Myanmar-Korea Friendship Bridge (Dala) is in the final stage of completion. Once completed the bridge will ensure smooth and safe passage of large ocean vessels and facilitate transportation from Yangon to coastal areas.

1.GOVERNMENT LOOKING AT ENHANCING LAWS AROUND VAPING TO TACKLE ISSUE OF DRUG-LACED VAPES IN SINGAPORE -- THE STRAITS TIMES

Current legislation around vaping may be strengthened following the increased detection in Singapore of electronic vaporisers containing substances such as etomidate and other controlled drugs.

Hanoi will establish an innovation centre to position itself as Vietnam’s leading scientific hub. The capital now hosts over 70 per cent of scientific institutions, 82 per cent of national laboratories and 65 per cent of top scientists.

 

2.POOR AIRCRAFT PUNCTUALITY AT AIRPORTS -- VIETNAM PLUS

Vietnam’s aviation industry’s punctuality rate declined badly in the first half of this year. Statistics revealed that the on-time performance rate fell to 62.6 per cent. Airline problems, operational reasons, weather and technical factors contributed to late arrivals.
