GEORGE TOWN, June 11 (Bernama) -- RHB Banking Group, through its subsidiary RHB Islamic Bank Bhd (RHB Islamic), has launched the RHB MyTVETKPM initiative -- a multi-purpose smart card designed for students in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions.
RHB Islamic managing director Datuk Adissadikin Ali said the initiative, launched yesterday in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE), will benefit 74,000 students across 86 vocational colleges and nine technical schools nationwide.
He noted that the smart card serves a dual function, as a student matriculation identity card and an RHB debit card.
“The launch of MyTVETKPM reinforces RHB Islamic’s alignment with the Malaysian government’s aspiration to elevate the TVET sector.
“As TVET becomes an essential pillar in Malaysia’s industrial and services department, RHB is proud to contribute by creating practical, student-friendly financial solutions that support a sustainable talent pipeline,” he said in a statement today.
Adissadikin highlighted that the MyTVETKPM initiative builds on the success of MySISWA, a similar student banking solution launched in 2022, which reached over 600,000 students from 20 public universities.
As part of the onboarding process, he said, participating students will open an RHB Pro Savings Account-i, enabling comprehensive “one-card-for-all” experience by allowing them to manage funds, make cashless payments and access exclusive promotions and discounts.
“These benefits cover a wide range of participating vendors and business partners of RHB, including those in the food and beverages, transport, education, lifestyle-related products and services sectors, as well as telecommunication and data packages,” he added.
The collaborative agreement supporting this initiative was signed in 2024 between RHB Islamic and Yayasan Didik Negara, the official philanthropic arm of the MOE.
The pilot project started on April 29 with 151 students from Kolej Vokasional Nibong Tebal activating their MyTVETKPM cards, while yesterday another 391 students from the same institution activated their cards.
