KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 (Bernama) -- Oscar Francisco Gonzalez has been appointed the new technical director of the National Football Development Programme effective April 21.
The National Sports Council (NSC) said the decision to appoint Oscar, who will also assume the duty of technical director of the Mokhtar Dahari Football Academy (AMD), was made at a committee meeting chaired by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.
"Oscar, who was the Australian Football Association Coach Education lead, was chosen based on the suggestion of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), who interviewed four candidates on Dec 13, 2023,” the NSC said in a statement today.
The interview panel, headed by FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin, also comprised FAM deputy president Datuk S Sivasundaram, FAM secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Abdul Rahman, FAM technical director Scott O’Donell and FAM Resource Unit head Zukhailah Marzuki.
Oscar, who holds an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) professional coaching diploma, has over 20 years of experience handling elite youth football development programmes in New South Wales.
He has also served at several famous clubs, like Nantong Zhiyun FC in China, Football New South Wales, Westfield Sports and A-League's Central Coast Mariners di Australia.
