RICHIAMO MART AIMS TO RETAIL 70 PCT OF LOCAL, NATIONAL PRODUCTS

BANGI, May 5 (Bernama) -- Richiamo Mart Sdn Bhd aims to retail up to 70 per cent of locally produced products in addition to well-known national brands through a chain of convenience stores nationwide.

Richiamo Mart managing director Wan Najib Wan Daud said the company is currently retailing 16 Bumiputera products at its first store here.

"We aim to turn Richiamo Mart into a platform for marketing local products since these products often struggle to enter other stores," Wan Najib told reporters after the opening ceremony of the mart today.

The outlet was launched by Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

Wan Najib said the products must have halal certification from the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the MeSTI (Makanan Selamat Tanggungjawab Industri) certification.

"If these conditions are met, then we will allow them to put their products here," he said.

Among the local products available at the convenience store are PakChips chips, Tisha's banana pancakes, Bayan Nuri coffee, Fitrah cincau date drink and Munira fruit juice.

Wan Najib said the company is aiming to open 15 Richiamo Mart branches nationwide this year, with a target income of between RM50,000 and RM60,000 per month.
