KANGAR, April 27 (Bernama) -- Perlisfm will put out new feel or vibe in its segments starting in May to touch the hearts of the people and thus build 'brand loyalty' among its listeners.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said every radio station under Radio Television Malaysia (RTM), needs to highlight contents that are more suitable to listeners and viewers in order to remain relevant.

"Why do I say audience, because today we have visual radio where radio broadcasts are broadcast live online on social media platforms.

"I hope that with this new vibe and the series that has been announced, many people will be able to benefit from the news, content and information delivered by Perlisfm," he said after the launch of Perlisfm's ‘Kemuncak Cangggung Hibrid dan Vibe Baru’ at the Tuanku Syed Putra Broadcasting Complex here, today.

He also said that the Tun Abdul Razak Broadcasting and Information Institute (IPPTAR) also needs to make the visual radio aspect a training module to give presenters skills in producing more interestng content.

Fahmi said Perlisfm's new vibe through the tagline 'Serasi Denganku' is believed to be able to keep the radio station which began operating on June 1, 1991 with the name Radio 3 Kangar, to remain relevant and be used as an example by other radio stations under RTM to produce more suitable content for listeners.

Before the end of the ceremony, Fahmi was also invited to broadcast live on the Perlisfm conti for about 20 minutes in the ‘Ekspresi Kayang’ segment which will henceforth be known as ‘Hingaq Pagi’.

Also present were Ministry of Communications secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa; Broadcasting Department director-general Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman; Bernama Chief Executive Officer, Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin; Bernama Editor-in-Chief, Arul Rajoo Durar Raj and Perlis Broadcasting Department director Fathilhidayat Gazali.

Meanwhile, the ‘Kemuncak Canggung Hibrid’ will be held on May 4 at the auditorium of the Perlis Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) which will be broadcast live on TV2 at 9 pm apart from RTM’s digital platform.

The launch of the summit highlighted the combination of canggung dance, which is a folk art that is synonymous with the state of Perlis, along with creative variations of other artistic elements in one competition stage.

The programme, which has the concept of a traditional and contemporary dance competition, will see four groups compete for the title of champion.
