JOHOR BAHRU, May 20 (Bernama) -- The ‘Kita KEADILAN’ roadshow that recently concluded in Sarawak served as a platform to unite and strengthen Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) while introducing its party election candidates to delegates, PKR secretary-general Dr Fuziah Salleh said.
The founder of the initiative said that the tour received positive feedback, with most members viewing it as a reflection of mature politics.
“This roadshow is a reunification process (after the divisional elections). So I started this initiative by offering a neutral platform. By the time we concluded the roadshow, we saw that the mood was positive — many party members praised the effort and said ‘this is what we want’. This is the mature politics we want to see.
“Through the roadshow, we provided a neutral platform so that everybody (candidates) could meet and network without any ‘cai’ (factions), without associating yourself with anybody,” she told Bernama when contacted.
The 'Kita KEADILAN' roadshow began with the southern zone (Johor and Melaka) on May 13, followed by the northern zone (Perlis, Kedah, Penang and northern Perak) on May 15, the central zone (southern Perak, Selangor, the Federal Territories and Negeri Sembilan) on May 16, and the Sabah zone (Sabah and Labuan) on May 17.
Fuziah said the roadshow also allowed contesting candidates to present their ideals and manifestos to party delegates.
“Everybody has something to offer for the party and the delegates should be wise enough to choose the best among the best,” she said.
On May 10, PKR Central Election Committee (JPP) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa announced that a total of 251 candidates have thrown their hats into the ring for the party’s national leadership election for the 2025-2028 session.
This includes 104 candidates for the Central Leadership Council (MPP), 85 for the youth wing, Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Leadership Council, and 62 for the women’s wing, Wanita Keadilan Leadership Council.
The PKR National Congress, including the AMK and Wanita Keadilan congresses, is set to take place from May 22 to 24 in Johor Bahru, with polling set for May 23.
