IPNas 2025 Study Shows Malaysians Are More United

ARAU, June 28 (Bernama) -- Findings from the National Unity Index (IPNas) 2025 show that Malaysians are becoming increasingly united, with a stronger sense of national spirit and high confidence in the country’s systems and institutions.

National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN) director-general Zulkifli Hashim, said the study recorded a unity score of 0.701, categorised as moderately high, surpassing the target set under the 12th Malaysia Plan.

“More encouragingly, the score shows a consistent upward trend compared with 2018, which recorded 0.567, and 2022, which recorded 0.629,” he said when closing the Perlis-level Jelajah Belia Rukun Negara programme (JBRN) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis here today.

Zulkifli said unity should never be taken for granted, and must be continuously nurtured, preserved and strengthened by every generation so that peace and stability can be passed on to future generations.

He said that in today’s digital age, social media can serve as a platform to unite society, but if misused it can also become a channel for the spread of false information, hate speech, slander and provocation that could undermine social harmony.

In this regard, he said university students must be critical, mature and responsible in evaluating information.

“Be a generation that uses social media to spread messages of unity, foster respect, and strengthen the spirit of togetherness in society,” he said.
