JOHOR BAHRU, June 6 (Bernama) -- Segamat Hospital requires 49 additional doctors, particularly medical officers (MOs), to meet current demand and reduce waiting times for patients, Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said.
He said the hospital currently has 120 doctors, including specialists and MOs, compared with the 169 required to support its services and departments, some of which operate 24 hours a day.
“Healthcare workers continue to provide the best possible service to the public. However, manpower shortages have resulted in longer waiting times and some appointments having to be rescheduled,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Ling visited the hospital this morning following public feedback on staffing shortages and extended waiting times at several departments.
He said the state government has contacted the Ministry of Health (MOH) to request additional healthcare personnel for the hospital.
