LAOS

1.FLOODS HAMPER CAVE RESCUE OPERATIONS -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

Rescuers are clearing floodwater from a cave in Xaysomboun province to rescue two miners still trapped underground after more than 10 days. The men have been trapped inside the  cave in Longchaeng district since May 20.

 

2.PRESIDENTS MEET TO WARM UP TIES -- VIENTIANE TIMES

President Thongloun Sisoulith arrived in China’s Zhejiang province on Tuesday for a state visit to strengthen bilateral ties and expand cooperation. His visit is at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

 

MYANMAR

1.ELIMINATING BORDER AREA ONLINE CRIMES -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Security forces are cracking down on online scams and online gambling activities operating in the border areas of Myanmar. Nearly 57,000 illegal foreign nationals involved in scam operations have been deported so far.

 

2.YANGON PORT BUSINESS SOARING -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The Myanma Port Authority announced that 55 container vessels are scheduled to arrive at the Yangon Port in June. Authorities have arranged maritime trade channels to facilitate increasing imports and exports.

1.CEMENT IMPORTS FROM CHINA, INDONESIA NOW COVERED BY IMPORT DUTIES -- PHILIPPINE NEWS AGENCY

Cement imports from China and Indonesia will now be taxed accordingly, following the increase in the volume delivered to the Philippines to over 3 per cent of the total imports.
