KUALA LUMPUR, May 19 (Bernama) -- The government will maintain the BUDI MADANI Diesel assistance of RM300 per month as well as the additional interim aid of RM100 for eligible recipients, says Economy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.
He said the measure was aimed at easing cost-of-living pressures following the increase in global fuel prices.
“The government will continue targeted interventions, including maintaining the BUDI MADANI Diesel assistance of RM300 per month as well as the additional interim aid of RM100 for eligible recipients,” he said during the Global Supply Crisis Briefing today.
At the same time, Akmal Nasrullah said the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) had also agreed that proposals to improve the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) be further pursued by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
He said the improvements involved balancing diesel subsidy quotas to strengthen leak prevention measures without affecting business operations and supply chains.
“Based on MySubsidi data as of April 9, 2026, more than 398,000 vehicles have been registered under the SKDS. This involves more than 375,500 land goods transport vehicles and around 23,000 public transport vehicles,” he said.
In another development, he said the RM300 per hectare Ploughing Incentive for Padi Farmers (IPKP) began being disbursed today.
He said the initiative was important as fuel and agricultural operating costs could directly affect the food supply chain.
“This programme has also been expanded to selected rural areas and villages to ensure the people have access to basic necessities at prices five to 30 per cent lower than current market prices,” he said.
