SERDANG, May 18 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA 2026) will run from Aug 28 to Sept 6 with a target of RM8 billion in investment potential.
The initiative will feature various programmes and exhibitions centred on the modernisation of local and global agricultural technology.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM) Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the exhibition, to be held at the Malaysia Agricultural Expo Park (MAEPS) here, aims to draw four million visitors and involve 2,000 domestic and international exhibitors.
"We are targeting at least RM55 million in direct sales and RM8 billion in investment potential through the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and memoranda of agreement (MoAs).
"This includes the involvement of 800,000 youths, along with various activities organised to mark the event," he said at the Pitch and Connect @ MAHA 2026 hi-tea here today.
He added that KPKM has received Cabinet approval to continue organising MAHA 2026, to introduce the public to new technological advancements in the agricultural sector.
"We know there's a global energy crisis right now. Even so, the government has approved MAHA 2026 to proceed, as it remains extremely important, particularly with this year's focus on modernisation.
"This means we hope Malaysians, especially those in agriculture, will come. They can learn about new farming technologies used by advanced agricultural countries like China, Taiwan, the Netherlands and others," he said.
In a separate press conference, Mohamad said his ministry is targeting between RM10 million and RM15 million in sponsorships for MAHA 2026.
"This year's theme is modernisation, so that young people will get more involved and interested in agriculture.
“Despite the ongoing energy crisis, we hope visitor numbers won't drop. This is a people's exhibition held only once every two years," he said.
Nearly 100 company representatives and potential sponsors attended the hi-tea session today, where they received detailed briefings on available sponsorship packages.
Sponsors also learned about the various incentives and benefits they can gain through their participation and sponsorship.
MAHA 2026 is themed "Value Creation for Food Security," reflecting Malaysia's vision of building a resilient, tech-driven, high-impact agri-food ecosystem.
