JOHOR BAHRU, May 18 (Bernama) -- The Johor Road Transport Department (JPJ) seized 44 luxury vehicles for various offences during the Op Luxury, conducted statewide from Jan 1 until yesterday.

State JPJ director Zulkarnain Yasin said the special operation was carried out following intelligence gathering, monitoring and public complaints regarding compliance with the law, including technical, documentation and vehicle safety aspects under the Road Transport Act 1987 and related regulations.

“Among the main offences detected were expired Motor Vehicle Licences, lack of insurance coverage, driving licence offences and technical violations,” he said in a statement today.

Zulkarnain said JPJ P(22) notices were also issued to owners and drivers who failed to comply with road regulations.

“In addition, technical inspections were carried out to ensure every vehicle is in safe condition and does not pose a risk to other road users,” he said.

He said the operation aimed to raise public awareness that there are no exemptions from compliance with road laws, even for luxury vehicles.

Any complaints related to traffic offences can be submitted via the MyJPJ application (e-Aduan@JPJ) or email at aduantrafik@jpj.gov.my.
