ALOR SETAR, May 16 (Bernama) -- Imigresen FC (IFC) is set to unveil a new identity next season through a rebranding exercise aimed at building stronger fan support, particularly in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said further details on the matter would be announced in the near future after discussions are finalised.
“The club will undergo a rebranding exercise, and we will introduce a new team name as part of the rebranding of IFC. All this is currently in progress and will be announced soon.
“We have several fresh ideas for the team’s rebranding. It is more about establishing a new identity that is better suited, especially as we will be playing in the northern zone,” he told reporters after the IFC Super League team dinner and briefing here last night.
He said the rebranding is also aimed at positioning the team among fans, particularly in Kedah and Perlis, which currently do not have teams representing supporters from both states in the Super League.
Saifuddin Nasution said that through a new identity, the club is confident of building a larger and more vibrant fan base for the team next season.
Meanwhile, he said IFC’s debut season in the Super League can be considered commendable, having managed to place among the top six in the league standings so far.
“For our debut season, I would like to commend the players and coaching staff. Most encouragingly, we have been able to manage logistical support, finances and sponsorships as planned,” he said.
He added that the management would consider awarding bonuses to players in recognition of their commitment and performance throughout the season.
In the meantime, Saifuddin Nasution said the team would also resolve its home venue arrangements for next season after playing at the Penang State Stadium in Batu Kawan and the Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium in Kangar, Perlis this season.
