MELAKA, May 8 (Bernama) -- Six Advisory Panel chairmen of the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) in Melaka received their appointment letters today from Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in a statement, said the appointments reflected the MADANI Government’s commitment, through MCMC, to strengthening NADI as a community hub that helps bridge digital, knowledge and socio-economic divides, as well as to delivering the benefits of government programmes more effectively.
“The Advisory Panel plays a role in strengthening community participation, serving as a bridge between communities, local leaders and relevant agencies, as well as ensuring that programmes are implemented in accordance with local needs,” said the commission.
The statement said that a total of 39 NADIs were currently operating in Melaka, focusing on internet access, the NADI Smart Service Programme and the delivery of government information.
The implementation of the NADI Advisory Panel had also been extended to several other states, namely Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Sabah, with a total of 114 panel chairmen appointed.
NADI’s role was further strengthened when it was recognised as a Digital Transformation Centre by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on April 25, reflecting the significant impact of initiatives implemented at community level and their global recognition.
At the event, Fahmi also officiated NADI Taman Seri Telok Mas and handed over 25 electronic devices to p-hailing drivers in support of the use of digital technology for employment and income generation.
Also present were Deputy Higher Education Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim, Ministry of Communications deputy secretary-general (Strategic Communications and Creative Industries) Nik Kamaruzaman Nik Husin, MCMC managing director Abdul Karim Fakir Ali and Kota Melaka MP Khoo Poay Tiong.
