"My Father Had Desired To Buy A House Away From Hustle And Bustle Of The Highway" - Daughter

KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 (Bernama) -- The late veteran actor and singer, Jalil Hamid, 69, had expressed a desire to own a new home far from the hustle and bustle of the highway just a day before he breathed his last at noon today.

His daughter, Afiqah Jalil, 33, described the remark as a sign that her father was heading to a more peaceful destination, although she did not notice any significant changes in his health at the time.

She recalled that during dinner at home yesterday, her father mentioned wanting to buy a house, specifically one that was not located next to a highway and reflecting on those words today, she felt that the "home" he was referring to was likely his final resting place.

Afiqah, the fifth of six siblings, noted that her father had previously suffered from an enlarged heart, which prevented him from fulfilling his wish to perform the Haj pilgrimage this year due to health constraints.

However, his condition had been reported as stable, and he was even scheduled for a filming session tonight as well as had also planned to travel to Singapore next week for the launch of his biography.

She shared that despite not being able to go to the Holy Land (to perform the Haj), her father remained active and appeared normal when they spent time together yesterday evening.

This morning, her mother informed her that he performed his Subuh prayers as usual before returning to rest, however, when he was checked on again around 12:00 noon he was found unconscious.

Afiqah, who was on her way to work, rushed home to perform CPR while waiting for an ambulance, but realised he had passed away when she could no longer detect a pulse.

The loss of the legendary artist is deeply felt, especially since he had just celebrated his birthday on April 25 and spent the recent Aidilfitri holidays with his family.

Afiqah, who had previously collaborated on a song with her father, expressed gratitude for having completed that recording as a lasting memory for his grandchildren.
