KUALA LUMPUR, April 30 (Bernama) -- Local animation studio MONSTA made a strong showing at the 2026 National Intellectual Property Awards (AHIN), organised by the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), clinching four major awards, including the Special Award for Commercial Achievement.

MONSTA said in a statement today that the recognition not only reinforced its standing as a content creator, but also contributed to the development of a sustainable and globally competitive intellectual property (IP) ecosystem.

The studio also bagged a bronze in the main award category for Outstanding Intellectual Property Organisation (Best Intellectual Property Management), as well as gold in the Nadi Kreatif Award (Copyright) for BoBoiBoy Galaxy Season Two and the Juara Jenama Award (Trademark) for BoBoiBoy Watch.

“This recognition reflects MONSTA’s ability to strategically organise, protect and develop IP assets, from content creation to the expansion of commercial value across various platforms and industries,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, MONSTA chief executive officer Nizam Abd Razak said the win was not only a recognition of the studio’s work, but also a testament to its disciplined approach in managing IP, which he said is becoming increasingly vital in today’s creative economy.

“We always focus on innovation in every IP we develop, while ensuring strong protection for our core assets.

“MyIPO’s role is crucial in helping us ensure that our IP is not misused by third parties. At the same time, IP diversification is a necessity as the potential of a single IP is vast, and it is up to us to boldly explore it,” he said.

Meanwhile, MONSTA Media director Faiz Zainal Abidin said that over the past decade, MONSTA has grown from a local animation studio into an IP enabler, combining storytelling, technology, marketing and commerce within an integrated ecosystem.

“For us, animation is not just content on the screen. It is a 360-degree experience, from television to cinema, social media, and physical products such as quality toys, as well as collaborations with other brands.

“The trust of industry partners and our ability to export IP to over 70 countries prove that Malaysian IP can stand on the global stage,” he said.

The statement said that, in line with this year’s National Intellectual Property Day theme, “Dari Idea ke Podium: Harta Intelek Nadi Malaysia MADANI”, MONSTA’s achievements demonstrate how local ideas, when guided by the right strategy, can be transformed into high-value assets that contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
