KUALA LUMPUR, April 28 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has collaborated with China to launch the Digital Cultural Card, a tourism marketing initiative integrating cultural, tourism and trade elements in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).

The launch was jointly organised by the Malaysia International Tourism Development Association (MiTDA) and NQ Cultural Commercial Sdn Bhd (NQCC) in a dual-city format involving Kuala Lumpur and Beijing, with real-time interactive connectivity between both locations.

MiTDA president Mahadzir Mansor said the initiative serves as a digital marketing tool to attract Chinese tourists to Malaysia through a rewards points and discount system.

“Tourists from China will accumulate reward points through purchases and redeem them as discounts when travelling to Malaysia, thereby encouraging them to spend more and stay longer.

“This initiative is expected to boost economic activity across various sectors, including hotels, local products and enterprises,” he told reporters here today.

Mahadzir said that so far, about 1,000 users in China had registered within an hour, reflecting strong potential for the initiative in attracting interest from that market.

Meanwhile, NQCC technical director You Li said the card combines digital and physical functions to enhance the user experience.

“The digital card attracts users on online platforms, while the physical card complements the travel experience at actual destinations.

“Potential tourists can familiarise themselves with local destinations, culture and products in advance through the platform, thereby increasing their inclination to choose Malaysia as a holiday destination,” she said.
