KUCHING, April 13 (Bernama) -- The federal government is ramping up efforts to cut non-revenue water (NRW) losses through the handover of the completed National NRW Programme (Approach 1) project at the Sungai Lumut booster pump station in Santubong.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the project is a proactive move to improve water supply systems with better metering, controls, and more efficient network mapping.
“This booster station is vital infrastructure in Santubong, keeping water pressure steady and ensuring a reliable daily supply for residents and the local tourism sector.
“With a 3 million litres per day capacity, it serves nearly 10,000 residents by delivering strong water flow to outlying areas like Kampung Sungai Lumut, Kampung Buntal, Kampung Santubong, and Damai,” he said in a Facebook post today.
The post stated that the project specifically targets the installation and replacement of System Input Volume (SIV) meters and consumer meters to boost data accuracy and asset management efficiency.
Fadillah, who also serves as Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based mapping system was also developed.
