Super League: Terengganu FC End JDT's Winning Streak With 1-1 Draw

11/04/2026 08:17 PM

ISKANDAR PUTERI, April 11 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta'zim FC's (JDT) record of consecutive wins in the 2025/2026 Malaysia Super League this season was broken when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Terengganu FC in action at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri, this afternoon.

The Southern Tigers squad, however, maintained their unbeaten record after 21 matches with three matches remaining to complete the league campaign.

JDT controlled the tempo of the game from the start with several dangerous moves, but failed to break the deadlock in the first 20 minutes.

Terengganu FC remained disciplined in defence while launching counterattacks that tested the home defence, making the match more balanced after the initial phase of JDT's dominance.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 22nd minute when Bergson da Silva finished off Mohd Afiq Fazail's pass to put JDT in front.

However, the advantage only lasted 13 minutes when Terengganu FC equalised in the 35th minute through Ehson Panjshanbe who met Gervane Kastaneer's pass before firing a powerful shot past the home goalkeeper, Ahmad Syihan Hazmi Mohamed.

The second half saw JDT continue to increase the intensity of the game with more dominant possession of the ball, while Terengganu FC remained dangerous through quick counterattacks.

In the 47th minute, Terengganu FC player Muhammad Ubaidulah Shamsul Fazili was shown a yellow card after fouling an opposing player.

JDT almost created the winning goal in the 77th minute when substitute Muhammad Syahmi Safari fired a powerful shot in the penalty box, but the attempt only hit the post before the ball bounced out.

The match ended 1-1, with both teams sharing one point.

After Terengganu, JDT will complete the remaining three Super League matches of the season against Melaka on April 28 followed by Kuala Lumpur City (May 2) and Kelantan The Real Warriors FC (KTRW FC) on May 10.
