SMK Naka Marks Milestone With First Straight-As SPM Student In Nearly 50 Years

KUALA NERANG, April 1 (Bernama) -- Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Naka, a rural secondary school, has, for the first time in nearly 50 years since its establishment, produced a student who achieved straight As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

Nur Batrisya Zulaikha Hussin, 18, a 2025 SPM candidate, scored 7 As and 1A- across all eight subjects she sat for.

She said the result was beyond her expectations, having managed just 3 A-s in her trial exams and having previously failed Mathematics.

“I didn’t expect to get 8 As in the actual exam, as I was only aiming for at least 6 As. I studied like everyone else, waking up as early as 4 am.

“I also used social media to access educational content, in addition to attending extra classes,” she said during an interview here today.

The second of four siblings said the achievement was not only a proud moment for the school but also especially meaningful for her parents, Noor Aziah Jaafar and Hussin Othman, adding that she hopes it will inspire other SMK Naka students, particularly this year’s SPM candidates, to aim for even better results.

Meanwhile, SMK Naka principal Mawardi Hamid said the success came from close collaboration among teachers, parents, students, and supportive government agencies.

“Thankfully, SMK Naka has finally produced a student with straight As since its founding. This is a milestone for rural communities, where students often face challenges and low motivation.

“I believe this success will pave the way for even greater achievements in the future,” he said.
